Book Review: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing

Hank Green has joined his brother in becoming an author with his debut novel, “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing.” Honestly, I didn’t even know what this book was going to be about before I picked it up because I just saw the name Hank Green and knew I had to read it. It ended up completely different from what I expected, but still amazing.

I expected realistic young adult fiction like his brother writes, but instead I got a science fiction about alien structures with a plot that had me hooked. The main character, April May, is blunt and honest, with a personality that could be described as “unlikeable,” but in a way that you still appreciate her humor and good intentions.

She’s also bisexual, so it was nice to see Green be inclusive in his book and create a strong female lead who was also a part of the LGBT community.
