“The Hate U Give” review

By Stephanie Lingenfelter

Author Angie Thomas wrote the impactful book, “The Hate U Give,” which shows the results of someone unfairly killed because of race. This book follows African American teenager after she witnesses her unarmed best friend be shot and killed by a police officer.

The story is one of power and justice, following the protests and emotional impact the death left on the community. It’s very empowering and seeks truth, making readers possibly rethink some of the events going on in the world. Police brutality is a big topic in today’s world, so anyone would benefit from reading this.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, since you just want to know if his death will be avenged. This was one of the most moving and powerful books I have ever read that has opened my eyes.
